CARFAX Canada Marks 1st “Transparency Week”

LONDON, Ontario–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Canadian drivers overwhelmingly agree: They want to know a used car’s full history before they buy. In fact, CARFAX Canada data shows that 88% of drivers say they want that information before they’ll make a purchase. That’s why CARFAX Canada, the provider of the country’s most trusted and comprehensive vehicle history report, is celebrating “Transparency Week” kicking off November 29, 2021. The purpose of this week is to celebrate and strengthen trust and transparency in the used vehicle industry. To mark the occasion, CARFAX Canada is sharing research and educating Canadians on how best to protect themselves when buying used.

“At CARFAX Canada, our mission is to empower millions of Canadians with insights to make better decisions about vehicles,” shares Mark Rousseau, President and GM of CARFAX Canada. “Canadians deserve to have the most complete picture of what they are buying – especially when it’s a significant investment like a car – in order to avoid costly mistakes.”

“Transparency is our core value,” says Rousseau, “so we share every piece of information about a car that we can because that is what’s in the best interest of Canadians.”

CARFAX Canada works with thousands of data partners across North America and continually strives to grow its database, allowing it to continue to provide the most trusted and comprehensive vehicle history report available. “We are transparent in saying that not all information is shared with us,” says Rousseau. “Our hope is that all data providers adopt our belief that providing us with access to this type of information is in the best interest for all Canadians.” Most Canadians tend to agree; CARFAX Canada’s research found that 89% of Canadian drivers think insurance companies should be required to disclose if a used car has been in an accident.

“Buying a used vehicle comes with some inherent risk,” says Rousseau. “Our aim is to help decrease this risk as much as possible by bringing more transparency to the process, that’s why along with getting a vehicle history report, we always recommend Canadians take the vehicle for a thorough test drive and get it inspected by a licenced mechanic. Our goal is to support Canadians so they can drive away with more peace of mind.”
