OmniQuest™ ILIAD™ is the New Name in Design Optimization

OmniQuest announces Iliad as the new name for its latest Multi-Discipline Optimization (MDO) software offering superseding Vanderplaats R&D VisualDOC®

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#Automotive–OmniQuest™, the global leader in engineering design optimization, is pleased to announce Iliad™ Design Exploration Automation Studio, formerly known as VisualDOC®. Iliad is a Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) tool, used by product designers and process planners to explore and improve solutions.

A versatile software tool, Iliad can wrap around any stand-alone analysis or script for integration of constituent design analyses and decisions into a single workflow. Providing dedicated interfaces to popular utility and analysis software offerings, Iliad delivers the instrumented interfaces for the designer to feed its equipped OmniQuest best-in-class optimization engines.

“When we began moving to rename Vanderplaats Research & Development, Inc. (VR&D) OmniQuest, we knew the VisualDOC offering would emerge as a key enabler to proliferate design optimization across all engineering disciplines and well beyond engineering to the entire business enterprise,” said Dr. Garret N. Vanderplaats, OmniQuest Chairman and Founder. “I have always wanted my clients and the thousands of students our optimization technology has touched to consider optimization to be a journey; Iliad is a fitting name for such an important product offering,” said Dr. Vanderplaats.

“VR&D products have been used by the Advanced Engineering department of Cleveland Cliffs for the last 8 years. Our analysis and design optimization challenges were successfully met with Genesis® and VisualDOC, now Iliad. The eigen value solver SMS was very useful for our large size problems. Most importantly the technical customer service provided to us has been outstanding,” said Sajan George Elengikal, Sr. Research Engineer, Advanced Engineering, Cleveland-Cliffs, Inc.

In addition to multi-objective optimization, Iliad includes design of experiment (DOE), reliability-based optimization, robust design, meta-modelling, multi-level, and multi-physics design studies. An array of Iliad post-processing tools provides the design engineer easy access to optimization results and reporting.

“Armed with a new look and loaded with new features, Iliad is poised to become the optimization-enabling tool for the most technically advanced engineers to the most nascent Science-Technology-Engineering-Arts-Mathematics (STEAM) community talent,” said Dr. Shubhamkar Kulkarni, Iliad development lead. “OmniQuest clients will find the new look aesthetically pleasing and the new features very useful additions to the deep and broad VisualDOC feature portfolio. Our focus is all about the engineering designer experience and how we can help automate and optimize design exploration,” Dr. Kulkarni continued.

Iliad is available for download beginning May 1, 2021. Please visit https://omniquest.world/iliad/ to request a complimentary evaluation license. Support for VisualDOC will continue through the end of 2021. Current VisualDOC licensees are eligible for a no charge upgrade to Iliad through May 1, 2022.
