January Results Met Expectations for Commercial Truck Sales

MCLEAN, Va.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–In the February 2020 Commercial Truck Guidelines Industry Update, analysts from J.D. Power Valuation Services reported that few auctions in January meant very little sales volume. Retail volume was similar to December, but pricing was down. The medium duty market was mixed, with conventionals stable and cabovers somewhat weak.

Once we get February sales numbers in, we will have more data to crunch to provide a clearer forecast,” said Chris Visser, commercial truck senior analyst at J.D. Power Valuation Services. “We don’t foresee much change in market conditions for the month of February, but we should be nearing the end of the worst of the devaluation.”

Major findings in the free monthly report note:

  • January market conditions met expectations
  • Volume was way down at the auctions, as is typical
  • Retail pricing was down moderately month-over-month
